The educational mission at Marian Middle School is to give a Christian and human education to adolescent girls who are economically challenged and underserved by other educational institutions both public and private.

Our results are dependent upon a strong staff - both volunteer and salaried.

Volunteers can serve for a day, for a week, for a month or for a year. We have volunteers who live in community and serve full-time as well as volunteers who assist one hour a week.

Volunteers can serve in a wide variety of ways:
• tutoring children in reading in math
• working as secretarial staff or administrative assistants
• doing landscaping and clean up work
• painting and rehab as the needs arise
• help with community mapping and demographic research
• working with staff to maintain a strong technological base with computer technology
• teaching ESL to a large Spanish speaking community
• mentoring young high school students
• tutoring high school students one evening each week
• and a variety of other similar activities.

Volunteer service in the mission of Marian Middle School offers great opportunity for much needed service and gives the volunteer a rich experience of a motivated and committed educational community dedicated to the service of children in need. Service at Marian touches the hearts of all who willingly involve themselves in the mission because the children touch and transform us as much as we help them grow and learn.

One great testimony to the effectiveness of the mission at Marian is the great number of volunteers who have come, who have served, and who have returned to serve again.

Without a strong core of volunteers, Marian could not effect the transformation that is central to our mission.
