History
Motivated by statistics showing that young girls fare better academically in same-sex schools, a group of Catholic religious sisters decided to pool their resources and provide such an alternative for economically disadvantaged students in St. Louis public schools. Eight women religious leaders organized their vast experience as educators, school administrators, social workers, and governing board leaders to open Marian Middle School in 1999. Their goal is to provide a quality private-school experience to girls who otherwise might not have access to this opportunity.

Academic Excellence
Marian Middle School, the only all-girl middle school in St. Louis, provides an educationally challenging environment. Adhering to the NativityMiguel model of education, these young girls commit to an intense 10-month, 12-hour schedule where they develop critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership, and life skills that will take them successfully into the next chapter of their academic career.
